How to Play / Running the port
Money, upkeep and debt
Running costs, credit and interest — and how not to go bankrupt.
Income
- Trade margins (buy low, sell high).
- Landing fees from every ship.
- Fuel sales and repairs (see Services).
- Contract rewards.
Running costs
Every building has a daily upkeep, which includes its staff, charged once a day. Upkeep grows with your port — that pressure is what makes you choose carefully what to build.
Debt and credit
Your cash can go below zero: the port then runs on credit and pays daily interest on the debt. The credit limit is a share of the value of your buildings, so a bigger port can borrow more.
If your debt stays beyond the credit limit for 30 days, the port goes bankrupt and the game is over. You get plenty of warning.
Building costs
- Construction is paid when a site starts building.
- Cancelling a site before it starts refunds everything.
- Demolishing a finished building refunds half its cost.
